Battlestar Galactica Season 3 Gag Reel

A gag reel from season 3 of Battlestar Galactica has been posted on Google video. Be warned, there are spoilers if you haven’t seen season 3, but it is pretty funny. Battlestar Galactica gag reel.

9 Video Clips from the Movie 300

IGN has posted 9 video clips from the movie 300. Each video is an actual scene from the movie, unlike trailers where it is a mix of different scenes. I especially like the use of primary colors in the cinematography. Hopefully this movie will be what Troy could have been.

Will It Blend? Valentine’s Day Edition

Hate Valentine’s Day? Like destroying things? This video is for you. Watch as the Blendtec blender “Will it blend?” guy blends an annoying musical Valentine’s Day gift.

Joss Whedon Directing “The Office”

This week’s episode of “The Office” was directed by Joss Whedon. The plot centers around bats. Really. Check out a preview of the episode here:

Vote on the Superbowl Ads

YouTube has videos of all the Superbowl ads and is holding a poll to determine the best ad. Check them out and vote for your favorite at YouTube.

Overall I was a bit disappointed with the Superbowl ads (and the Superbowl). There wasn’t a whole lot of creativity that didn’t come off as just strange. My favorite though was the Rock, Paper, Scissors ad. Check out the link above to see it.

Forgotten Memories - Buffy Season 8!

Before you get too excited, this isn’t an official continuation of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Nor does it include the original cast members. Forgotten Memories is a fan produced 40 minute episode following the end of Buffy season 7. From the production’s web site:

The project “Forgotten Memories” first began its journey in early 2004 when budding scriptwriter Emma Paige Langley penned her ideas for a continuation of the Buffyverse after the series finale “Chosen.” In her words: “these characters don’t just go away. They stay in people’s minds, thoughts and memories. That’s why Buffy is so amazing. Joss doesn’t just create a show or a character, he creates worlds that audiences find themselves drawn to.”

I have not downloaded and watched it yet, but it sounds like a wonderful idea! There are some great quotes on the website, including one from Joss Whedon: “Thank God someone else wrote season 8!”

It’s a Charlie Brown Scrubs

If you like Scrubs and Charlie Brown, watch the following video. It’s the video from the Charlie Brown Christmas show with voices (and the lines) redone by Scrubs characters. I don’t know if this is available on a DVD anywhere (I got it from YouTube)… I think it may have been just something fun for the cast to do.

World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Cinematic Trailer Released

World of Warcraft

I played World of Warcraft for over a year. I was involved with managing WoW Vault since way before the beta, and during beta I wrote the talent calculator and lots of other content for the site (when Blizzard finally released a talent calculator, there were a lot of similarities in layout to the one I wrote, but I won’t go into that here). So I was pretty into the game. However, I stopped playing the game last year. I wanted more solo or small group content, but everything at high levels is based on large raid groups, which take a while to get together. It just wasn’t as much fun as the lower and mid levels, and I could only create so many characters before I got bored of that content.

Despite this, I still look at news of the game’s development once in a while, so I know that there is an expansion coming out soon (which has been in the works for over a year). The Burning Crusade Cinematic Trailer was recently released, and again I am amazed at Blizzard’s CGI. Although the in game graphics are nothing like it, it is still impressive. I got quite a big laugh out of a few moments in the trailer. The trailer starts out very serious and dramatic, but about 75% of the way through it has some humor. First a Human wizard dramatically casts Polymorph at an approaching Tauren, which of course turns him into a sheep. The sheep dangles in the air with his legs wiggling for a moment before falling to the ground with a baa. Next an Undead character casts a ring of fire to kill some nearing murlocs, who are complete with RlrlrlRLRLLRLGRLGRLGlglglglgl!. Those two scenes had me cracking up, and it was hard to take the rest of the video seriously.

Also on the WoW Movie Download Page is a video of the recent WoW commercial that has been airing on TV. It’s a take off on Office Space, and it’s pretty funny.

I don’t know if I will ever start playing WoW again. Maybe I’ll give it another try when the expansion comes out, but I’d almost prefer not getting sucked back into the black whole of time that is MMORPGs. A Diablo 3 would be a lot of fun though, and the time requirements are not as demanding for that sort of game. I haven’t played online games in months, and I like having more free time than I used to.

Will it Blend?

Will it Blend? is the best viral marketing I’ve seen. There have been a series of videos posted on YouTube which basically throw different objects into a blender by BlendTec and see if it will blend them. Here is one of the impressive ones… 50 marbles. Watch the video to see what happens:

After seeing a few of these videos, my husband and I started thinking about how nice it would be to have a blender like that. Our blender had a hard time blending ice for smoothies. So we decided to pay the high price for a BlendTec blender. I don’t regret buying it at all! We tried blending just ice by itself, and it came out like a snow cone! It is great for smoothies, but it also acts like a food processor. I can only imagine how many sales the company has gained from posting those videos.

Update: Check out more ‘Will it Blend?’ videos on WillItBlend.com. Recent videos include blending an iPod and a nutcracker.
